Female Dog Diapers That Stay On Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought

Having had Jet, our youngest Dog, who is just under nine months old, Spayed five days ago I thought it would be a good idea here at the Dog Blog to give a little advice on Dog spaying and tell what happened to our Dogs after being Spayed. Female Dog Spaying aftercare is especially important and there are a few things we should all know.. As always though, these are just my opinions and.

Jet had no inclination to eat or drink on the first day. Her weight is down to between 55 to 60 pounds. It can vary dramatically from Vet to Vet and the procedure they do.

Our Vet recommended that the Stitches should be left in the Dog for at least a week. We then had the option of going back to the Vets to have them removed, or, see if they come out on their own.

With Jet all her stitches were still there after a week, but I did not want to take her back to the Vets after being Spayed so soon. After a few more days the stitches started to simply drop off.

They also began to unravel and I simply pulled them out. After three weeks there were a few stitches still in her, I pulled lightly on them and the stitches simply came away.

Personally I would not be concerned with leaving the stitches in the Dog for a few weeks after being Spayed, but it depends on the Dogs reaction and how easily they seem to come out.

Again it completely depends on the Dog. The advice from the Vet was no strenuous activity for as long as possible.

Things to Consider When Buying Dog Diapers

They need to heal well. Any running, jumping, playing could cause a major problem. Although difficult, keep your Dog calm for a few weeks if possible and then take it slowly. I know from experience this is difficult to do. Faye especially was up for running and jumping up walls within two days.

She had to be on the lead constantly and at times even in the house. She recovered so quickly she just wanted to play like normal.

Again err on the side of caution and keep them close and never let them run around for the first few weeks. For some high energy Dogs this will be tough but this is a few weeks out of a long life.

Lumps After Dog Spayed?

We have tried a kennel, he got so nervous he started to paw frantically at the bars and tore two of his nails out. I do not want her to have to wear a cone all the time. Rudy doesn't even know they're on him.

Many people become concerned about the size of the swelling around the stitches a few days after the Spay. Normally it is a Seroma, a collection of fluid after the operation. It is normally a reaction to the stitches. All three of our Dogs have been on antibiotics expensive for a week after the surgery.

This helps them recover quickly and stops the reaction to the stitches becoming too big. Both Jet and Daisy swelled up quite a bit but although it bothered Daisy, Jet is taking it all in her stride.

Faye, the indestructible Dog, had little to no swelling under the stitches. What she did get after about a week were two hard lumps either side of the base of the stitches. We were told this is quite common, and in a few days they disappeared.

Sickness is normal for a day or so after the operation but if it happens too much or goes on too long then you ned to call the Vet. Some Dogs will be fine after a day or so and want to run and play.

For others it could be a week or more before you see them getting back to normal. If they are too lethargic after a few days then check with the Vet.

Female Dog Spaying And Post Operation Care

Conclusion This is by no means a full coverage of the topic. During the estrous cycle a female dog needs a proper care from her owner. Here are some tips on dog care at this stage: Keep checking the diaper in case of heavy bleeding and change as required.

Keep the dog in a restricted area and do not allow anyone to disturb her. Put the dog in a crate at night.

The floor of the crate will be easy to clean in the morning. Always stay close to your dog whenever she is outside during menstruation because male dogs can smell her and might try to have intercourse with her. For an un-spayed female, menstrual blood is a fact of life and if she lives indoors with you, allowing her to wear a diaper that will collect her menses will avoid the potential for her being scolded for something that isn't her fault - like getting blood on the carpet or the furniture.

Diapers for dogs in heat can also prevent some potential problems when you are walking her with unwanted attention from male dogs. However, you need to be vigilant and ensure that she is kept clean and comfortable and that her skin does not become sore and a soft, washable diaper like the one demonstrated right might be your best option.

If your vet advises diapering for an elderly, incontinent dog, this can allow him to carry on with his life - without accidents. I have a senior dog; she's a fifteen-years-old Pudelpointer.

If your vet advises diapering for an elderly, incontinent dog, this can allow him to carry on with his life - without accidents. You should always establish the cause of the incontinence before putting any dog in diapers.

Your vet will be able to advise you. Potentially, you could be attributing the cause to loss of bladder control when in fact, your dog has a urinary infection that should not be left untreated.

However, for older dogs that are becoming incontinent of urine, diapers can make all the difference and allow your dog to go on living in your home, laying in all his favorite places and enjoying his old age, rather than being banished or a becoming a source of family upset due to those little accidents that would otherwise happen with increasing frequency.
